I use the Adobe Creative Cloud and am proficient in all standard design industry software. My productivity is relatively high in terms of time turnaround. My background is in print executing many multiple page catalogs averaging 120-200 pages. I am also interested and experienced in Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere. I spent several years attending Digital Storytelling Festivals and have extensive research in this methodology and interest in telling stories in print, web, and video.

I've spent much time in the early 2000s researching Millenials and adapting my teaching to a coaching style. My courses are innovative and intensive. I have experience in teaching both those passionate and dedicated to graphic design as majors and those curious about design as non-majors. I am transforming my courses into workshops and an online program. I can assist you personally or your business in training your employees in creative thinking, and design skills to advance their contribution in their current roles. I have developed curriculum and modified all of my courses to be up to date and most importantly FUN, because we learn best thru play and physical activity. My courses range from Introduction, Typography, Advanced level, Portfolio and focused courses such as Brand Identity, History of Design Communication, Taste (an investigation of food and design), Packaging, Visual narratives, Designer as Author, and a seminar about Books, the life and love of.

I have advised students in AIGA and design clubs. I was instrumental in the startup of a student run business at Belmont University for a design studio and art gallery. I have taken students to conferences nationally and internationally, and on study abroad trips to London and Japan. I have coordinated numerous lecture events from my many connections in the design industry thru AIGA which includes all of the budgeting, planning and implementation of hosting and sometimes collaborating with AIGA chapters to organize an associated professional development event.

Employment positions:

Graphic Designer, Herbert-Halback in Orlando, FL. This is a urban planning and landscape design firm. I worked here between graduating from University of Florida until a teaching position in the following academic year. My main responsibility was to support the marketing department in numerous multi page document proposals, internal advertising for client appreciation, assisting the Urban planners in marketing materials for public planning meetings, and production for landscape and urban design projects that needed design support for signage and sculpture.

Designer, College of Fine Arts Office of the Dean. Responsible for design and production of alumni newsletter and additional materials required for the promotion of the programs. This includes a logo design for SAAH, school of art and art history.

Communications Coordinator, Vision Business Products in Orlando. I worked for this national corporation for 5 years at their headquarters in Orlando. My primary responsibility was an annual catalog printed in English and French with approximately a 20,000 print run. I managed the entire operation from securing advertising and coordinating the entire budget thru print process as well as the selection of products with the sales data and the vendors, and the design of the entire document including art direction of the covers. Additional responsibilities included internal newsletters and collateral material for an annual convention meeting of all of the national offices.

Please note that I made a conscious choice not to take on additional clients during my time as a design educator because I wanted to commit all of my energies on becoming a better educator and all of the demands of the tenure-track process including, but not limited to creative scholarly research. As I have decided to leave the academic institution to pursue a reinvigorated career in design, I'm at the top of my game as a creative thinker and designer.
